MYSQL ON OPENSTEAD

Familiar database tools. Less hosting administration.

Keep the MySQL ecosystem your application already depends on. Manage the database from the same console as your code, domains and deployments.

Start with a useful free database

MySQL Free includes 768 MB memory, 2 GB persistent storage and up to 25 connections. One free MySQL database is available per workspace.

Open phpMyAdmin from Openstead

Browse tables, run queries, and import or export data through a database-scoped phpMyAdmin session opened from your Openstead account.

Keep a recovery path

Scheduled and manual logical backups support exporting data and restoring into a separate database. Backup status is visible in the console.

MADE FOR YOUR STACK

The MySQL configuration you already know.

Your application connects directly to MySQL with its normal driver. phpMyAdmin is a management interface; it does not sit between your application and its database.

  • Database files live on persistent storage.
  • MySQL Free includes a seven-day backup retention limit.
  • Paid database plans offer larger memory and storage allocations.

PUT IT TO WORK

Built for the work
your application does.

01

Laravel applications

Configure the normal MySQL driver and use Artisan for migrations, seeders and application maintenance.

02

Existing PHP projects

Move an application and its SQL data into separate web and database services, with private connection settings.

03

Small application backends

Start with the free database allowance, then select more memory and storage as the application grows.

HOW IT WORKS

Bring your schema. Connect your app.

01

Create a database

Choose MySQL in your project. Start with the free instance or select a paid database plan for more capacity.

02

Prepare your data

Run application migrations or open phpMyAdmin to import your SQL export. Check the schema and application records before connecting your application.

03

Connect privately

Set the internal hostname, database name and credentials in your application’s environment. Keep the web app and database in the same environment.

A FEW MORE DETAILS

Questions
about mysql?

Read the documentation
Can I use phpMyAdmin?

Yes. Open your MySQL service in the console and choose Open phpMyAdmin. Openstead checks your account access and opens a temporary session scoped to that database.

What is included in the free MySQL tier?

One MySQL Free database per workspace, with 768 MB memory, 0.25 shared vCPU, 2 GB storage, a 25-connection limit and up to seven days of backup retention. Your web application has its own plan.

Can I import an existing SQL database?

Yes. You can import compatible SQL through phpMyAdmin or use a MySQL client from a service with private access. Check your export’s MySQL version, character encoding and SQL compatibility before migration.

Does MySQL have a public connection address?

MySQL application connections use the private network. The console provides your internal hostname and credentials. phpMyAdmin supplies browser-based administration without exposing a public MySQL port.
